Bird Houses

I am loving making these birdhouses.  I've completed three now... one went to a new friend undergoing cancer treatments.  It was a "rak" random act of kindness through one of the Yahoo art groups I am in.  This one above I gave to a wonderful cousin who is displaying it in her office....  We visited her for a memorial service over the weekend and I wanted her to have something personal made by me. 

This was how it started.  I had a collage started to use mostly as  background paper for my art projects, then added my head and some ribbon for the Meet the Artist Project.

These are cards I made for the Meet the Artist swap for In This House and Garden.  They were to be an altered me, mostly a digitized card, but I couldn't stop so added some charms, ribbon, and the earrings.

The Mining town

A few more photos to add today.  I have been not keeping up with my blog, and I'm not sure why.... could be I'm keeping myself busy with housework.... naw..... the kids... naw they are all grown.... the grandson.... yes a bit!  And the many swaps I've been in lately.  My journey pages done on chipboard from my hometown of Ashland, Pa. a coal mining town.  I'm quite happy with them, they combine many memories of the town.... the factory across the street from my home where all my aunts and cousins, and friends of my Mom, seemed to work.  Then the Mother's Memorial which sits at the bottom of the town waiting for our Memorial Day celebrations.... I remember as a girl scout parading down there....  The old Miner's Hospital where I guess I was born... not sure when they changed the name.  But I was born in the older building, candy striped in the newer one.  Then the mine itself on the back.... all fun memories.
